Employment: Throughout high school and until his death, Don worked for his father at Schechinger Seed Co. doing farming, conditioning soybeans and anything else that needed to be done.

Hobbies/Interests: enjoyed helping Debra with all the housework including the laundry and dishes. Don also helped Debra with the maintenance of the garden they started together. Don joined the Westphalia, IA, Volunteer Fire Department and continued to be a member even after becoming a member of the Harlan Fire Department.
