Employment: After leaving school, she worked as a nanny for local families around Manning. She then moved to Harlan, IA, where she took a job assisting a local photographer. After her marriage to Harley, they made their home on the Peterson family farm in Rabbit Hollow just northeast of Harlan. While on the farm, Eldora helped with the daily chores, loved tending to her garden, raised chickens and canned countless amounts of fruits and vegetables for her family and neighbors. After the death of Harley in 1986, Eldora remained on the farm until May of 2011. The Peterson family farm is now recognized as an Iowa Century Farm.
