Died: Sept. 5, 2009, Harlan, IA

Funeral services: Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, Pauley Jones Funeral Home, Harlan, IA; Rev. Dave Swinton officiated. Burial was at the Harlan Cemetery, Harlan, IA.

Survived by: Children: Virginia (spouse, Raymond) Hughes of Beverly Hills, FL; Barbara (spouse, Harry) Budd of Ames, IA; and Tom Paulsen (spouse, Ruth) of Harlan, IA; 6 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other family members and many friends

Predeceased by: parents, George and Daisy (nee Claessens) McIntosh; husband of 75 years, Bob (deceased June 1, 2007); sisters, Opal Johnson, Virginia Bakke, and Wilma McIntosh who died in infancy

Education: attended school in Irwin and Odebolt, IA, and graduated from Odebolt High School. After school, Evelyn began teaching in Sac County for one year before moving with her parents to Minneapolis, MN where she attended the University of Minnesota.

Religious affiliation: baptized and confirmed at the Methodist Church in Irwin, IA in 1920

Marriage: Robert O.H. Paulsen, August 26, 1931, First Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE

Employment: After high school, Evelyn began teaching in Sac County for one year before moving with her parents to Minneapolis, MN to attend the University of Minnesota. Later, when visiting her grandparents in Shelby County, IA, was asked to teach at Rabbit Hollow Rural School and Center #4. She remained in Iowa to teach and in the late 1950's, also tutored children for the county.

Hobbies/Interests: Was active in the 4-H and was also a 4-H leader for 8 years. She was a Jackson Township Committee Woman and a Shelby County Republican Chairwoman. She enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout the North America, ballroom dancing, and collecting rocks and shells.
