Education: Graduated from St. Joseph’s Catholic School in Earling, IA, where he was an all-county basketball player.

Employment: After high school, Jerome moved to Omaha, NE and worked at the Corn State Laboratory during the day; he delivered groceries at night. He returned to Shelby County and worked on local farms outside of Defiance and Denison until 1963. In 1967, Jerome started working at Farmland and retired in 2004 after 37 years. He continued to farm full-time until the fall of this year.

Hobbies/Interests: Was a basketball referee and officiated many games and announced at several tournaments. He enjoyed bowling and occasionally going to the casinos
