Donna Lou Fiscus Wetzel was born on November 8, 1944 to F. Donald and Mahela (Sheer) Holt in Cherokee, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa. She graduated from Harlan Community High School with the Class of 1963.

She was married to Roger Fiscus in July of 1963 and had two daughters: Rogene and Dawnene. After Roger’s death in 1984, she continued to work at Myrtue Medical Center, spending twenty-eight years as a Unit Secretary.

On February 10, 1987, she married Harry Wetzel in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Irwin, Iowa and spent their winters in Texas. Donna enjoyed socializing with their Texas circle of friends and often played cards and bingo, and took shopping trips to Mexico. She was always on the go. She had a great personality and liked being around people. Even when sick, she still couldn’t have too many visitors, her smile was big and contagious. Donna enjoyed dancing, watching stock car and NASCAR races, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.

Donna died at her home on Friday, July 19, 2013, having attained the age of sixty-eight years, eight months, and eleven days. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roger, and her parents.

She is survived by her husband Harry Wetzel of Irwin, Iowa; daughters Rogene DeMarce of Lees Center, New York and Dawnene and her husband Paul Bowers of Waukesha, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Justina, Brock, Jerad, Derek, and Brennen; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Madison, Cameron, Michael, Shailyn, Jeremiah, and Savannah; sisters Ann Holt and Susan and her husband Terry Morris all of Harlan; mother-in-law Katherine Fiscus of Harlan; other family members and many friends.

Ted Sieck officiated the 11:00 AM funeral service on Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan, Iowa. Serving as casket bearers were Jerad Bowers, Derek Bowers, Brennen Bowers, Nick Woebke, Garet Woebke, Adam Bader, Andy Morris, and Dennis Fry. Interment was held at the Harlan Cemetery.
