Max farmed for many years with his children working beside him. He developed a passion for sales starting with demonstrating and selling welders before becoming a feed salesman for Vigortone and Farm Service Coop. Max loved being with and helping people through his work and community activities. He was an active member and past President of the Harlan Kiwanis and especially enjoyed helping with the county fair as a part of this. In his later years, he became a painter with many houses in the area serving as his canvas.
