Employment: farmer, 32 years on farms located southwest of Harlan, IA; was then employed by Irving F. Jensen Construction; later worked at Botna Bend Park and the Harlan Community Library before retiring.

Hobbies/Interests: Past-president of the Shelby County Pork Producers, a former 4-H leader, former member, Harlan Kiwanis; an avid Iowa State and Kansas City Royals fan. Vernon loved to fish and read; spending time with his family was particularly enjoyable for him.
