RONALD VIRGIL BLUME (1941 - 2012)

Ronald Virgil Blume was born March 16, 1941, the son of Arnold and Martha Stolz Blume. He passed away Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin, Texas, at the age of seventy-one.

Ron was born in Des Moines, Iowa, and raised on a farm near Dunlap, Iowa. He attended Catholic School in Dunlap. Ronald owned farms in Iowa and Minnesota and was a loyal employee of Fagen, Inc. in Granite Falls, Minnesota, as a construction supervisor for 22 years, working on 47 locations in over nine states.

Ron was united in marriage to Marjorie Lahr in 1962. He was known as a kind and giving man and loved to be around people. He enjoyed telling fun stories and reminiscing about the past. He lived his life serving others and loved to see them have fun. Ron was an avid collector and took joy in buying old tractors and having them restored. He was later married to Linda Clementson in 1985 in Little Fork, Minnesota. Ron had a special place in his heart and was a generous supporter and friend of St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. It meant a lot to him to help children in need.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Paul and his wife, Opal. He is survived by one nephew, Rick and his wife, Suzi; one niece, Paula and her husband, Tyson; his special friend, Janet; many cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Mass Of Christian Burial was held 11 A.M., Friday, July 27, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa. Fr. Paul Kelly served as Celebrant of the Mass. Organist Judy Thams provided accompaniment for soloist Eldon Hardekopf and the St. Rose of Lima Choir led by Pat Menegay. Serving as Lector was Judy Brodersen, Eucharistic Minister was Darlene Reis, Gift Bearers were Carter and Cody Campbell, and Servers were Nick and Cory Miller. Thursday Services included a 4:30 P.M. Legion of Mary Rosary and a 5 P.M. Scriptural Prayer Service by Fr. Tim Friedrichsen. Honorary Pallbearers were all of Ron's dear friends and serving as Pallbearers were Patrick McCaffery, Charles Thomsen, Tyson Campbell, Vic Thomsen, Rick Blume, and Joe Lahr. Interment was in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Earling, Iowa, with Fr. Chris Fontanini officiating.The family invited everyone to the Parish Center immediately following the service for fellowship and lunch provided by the Altar Society. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
