MICHAEL ALAN SERVOSS (1943 - 2012)

Michael Leo Servoss was born in Carroll, Iowa, March 14, 1943, the son of Dr. Merle Leo and Louise Helen Ann Sanders Servoss. He was raised in Denison receiving his elementary education at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School before graduating from Denison High School with the class of 1961. Following high school he furthered his education at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and Wayne State College, Wayne, Nebraska.

Michael spent his adult life in Denison where he was employed at Pester Derby, Midwest Track and Tennis, Environment 2000 and B & N Products. On May 15, 1978, he began his thirty year career with the Crawford County Secondary Road Department from which he retired on June 11, 2008.

In his spare time he enjoyed Nebraska Football, Sprint Car Racing, listening to Jazz, reading mystery novels, socializing with family and friends and was known as an environmentalist.

He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison.

Michael died early Monday, May 14, 2012, at his home in Denison having attained the age of 69 years and 2 months.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Merle and Louise Servoss and one sister, Barbara Moeller.

Those remaining to cherish his memory include three sisters: Joyce Mulligan of Sauk Rapids, Minnesota, Kathleen Janing of Omaha, Nebraska, and Cecilia and husband, Edward Arnold of Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law: Neal G. Moeller of Denison, Iowa; his former wife: Verna Rae; nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 18, 2012, at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, with Father Paul Kelly officiating and Emily Johnson and David Moeller serving as Lectors. Music for the service included the congregational hymns of "Beyond The Moon And Stars", "This Is My Song", "Blest Are They" and "You Are Mine" with Sue Rosener serving as song leader and Mary Kuhlmann as organist. Honorary Pallbearers included Neal G. Moeller, Dale Moeller, Clair Moeller, Annette Salsbery, Mary Eiten, Jillian Arpy, Corinne Moeller, Jessica Keane, Neal T. Moeller, Leah Lemberg, Carl Moeller, Anna Moeller, Paul Moeller, Miranda Salsbery, Carsten Moeller, Daniel Moeller, Elizabeth Mulligan, Jennie Benton, James Janing, Sandra Janing, Ellen Burford, Emily Johnson, Joe Coleman, Short Millard, Brad Nelson, Juli Nelson and Allen Nepper. Those serving as pallbearers included Erika Eiten, Matthew Eiten, Gerald Janing, Justine Kelm, Casey Eiten, Kathryn Moeller, Thomas Janing and Thomas Moeller. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Denison, Iowa. Following the interment all were invited to join the family at St. Rose of Lima Parish Center for a time of fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements where a Parish Vigil Service was held at 5:00 p.m. and a Rosary was prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, 2012.
