DOROTHY M. LEBECK, 71, of Audubon, died Sat., March 24th, at Creighton University Medical Center, in Omaha. Funeral services for DOROTHY LEBECK will be held 10:30-a.m. Wed., March 28th, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, in Audubon. Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon has the arrangements.

Friends may call at the funeral home, where a family visitation takes place beginning at 6-p.m. Tue., March 27th.

Burial will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon.

Dorothy Lebeck is survived by:
Her husband – Donald Lebeck, of Audubon;
Her daughters – Donita (John) Nowatzke, Sr., of Kimballton; & Denise (Jeff) Finster, of Hamlin;
Her brother – Robert (Mary) Christensen, of Cherokee;
Her sisters – Marge (Galen) Hansen, of Exira; Lois Pfeiffer, of Lake Havasu, AZ; & Violet Rush, of Atlantic;
6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, her in-laws, other relatives & friends.

Funeral Services for 71 year old Dorothy M. Lebeck of Audubon will be held at 10:30am on Wednesday, March 28 at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Audubon with burial in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon. Dorothy passed away on Saturday, March 24 at Creighton University medical Center in Omaha, NE. Survivors include her husband, Donald Lebeck of Audubon; her daughters: Donita (John) Nowatzke, Sr. of Kimballton; Denise (Jeff) Finster of Hamlin; 6 Grandchildren; 13 Great-Grandchildren; 1 brother; 3 sisters; sisters and brothers-in-law; other relatives and friends. The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of arrangements where family visitation services will begin at 6pm on Tuesday, March 27.

Dorothy Marie Lebeck, the daughter of Nels Christian and Anna Marie Lund Christensen, was born July 28, 1940 at her parents’ home northeast of Exira, Iowa and died March 24, 2012 at the Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska at the age of 71 years, 7 months, and 24 days. Dorothy was baptized August 25, 1940 and confirmed April 24, 1955 at the Exira Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She attended rural school Greeley #9. Dorothy was born with a hole in her lower left ventricle of her heart and at the age of 17 she had it repaired, which was one of the first successful open heart surgeries in Iowa City, Iowa. This allowed her to have a much more normal life. She graduated from the Exira High School with the Class of 1959. She attended Boyles-Van-Saint business school in Omaha for 6 months and then was employed at the Woodmen of the World Insurance Company for several years. On June 23, 1963, she was united in marriage to Donald Lebeck at the Exira Lutheran Church. Dorothy was employed by Sklenar Publishing Company and then was a homemaker for several years while their daughters were young. Following her childhood dream she took Nurses Aide training and Medication Aide training and was employed at the Exira Care Center in Exira for 33 and a half years until she retired due to health issues. Dorothy was a dedicated, compassionate, and devoted employee who dearly loved the residents she cared for. During retirement she enjoyed taking care of Don and her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. She was an extreme coupon user and bought nothing unless there was a coupon for it. She was also known for her delicious scalloped corn casserole which was served in her casserole dish which was given to them as a wedding present and was transported in the same cardboard box it was given in. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her mother-in-law and father-in-law Ed and Jane Lebeck; her infant brothers: Virgil Christensen, John Christensen, Dale Christensen, and Darrell Christensen; her brother and sister: Dallas Christensen and Erma Jensen; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Richard and Marvel Lebeck, Jerry Lebeck, Kenneth Lebeck, Susan Lebeck, Jim Rush; and her nephew Matthew Christensen. Survivors include her husband Donald Lebeck of Audubon, Iowa; her daughters: Donita and husband John Nowatzke, Sr. of Kimballton, Iowa; Denise and husband Jeff Finster of Hamlin, Iowa; her grandchildren: John Nowatzke, Jr. and fiancée Toni Yetz both of Elk Horn, Iowa; Laura White of Kimballton and special friend Josh Tye of Creston, Iowa; Emily Nowatzke of Kimballton; Elizabeth and husband Ben Conklin of Grain Valley, Missouri; David Finster and Christopher Finster both of Guthrie Center, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Courtney Nowatzke, Josh Heuton, Drake Heuton, and Skyler Nowatzke all of Elk Horn; Nicholas Terwilleger, Quintinn White and Preston White all of Kimballton; Jorgen Nowatzke and Celina Owen both of Kimballton; Apollo Lebeck, Raven Lebeck, and Caradyn Conklin all of Grain Valley, Missouri; and Blaine Finster of Hartley, Iowa; her brother and sisters: Robert and wife Maralyn Christensen of Cherokee, Iowa; Lois Pfeiffer of Lake Havasu City, Arizona; Marge and husband Galen Hansen of Exira, Iowa; and Violet Rush of Atlantic, Iowa; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Doris Christensen of Audubon; Bob and wife Pat Jensen of Audubon; Carol Lebeck of Guthrie Center; Charlotte Avey of Carroll, Iowa; Ron and wife Mavis Lebeck of Audubon; Wayne and wife Pat Lebeck of Audubon; and Sherri Lebeck of Atlantic, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation:
The family will meet friends Tuesday evening at 6:00 P.M. at the Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon.

Service:
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at 10:30 A.M. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Audubon, Iowa.

Cemetery:
Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Audubon, Iowa
