GLORIA EUNICE KLEIN, 87, of Harlan, died Wed. Jan. 18th, at the Elm Crest Retirement Community. Funeral services for GLORIA KLEIN will be held 11-a.m. Sat., Jan. 21st, at the Little Sioux United Methodist Church in Little Sioux. Pauley-Jones Funeral Home in Harlan has the arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4-9pm Fri., Jan. 20th, with the family present to greet friends from 6-9pm.

Burial will be in the Little Sioux Cemetery.

GLORIA KLEIN is survived by:
Her sons – Glenn “Andy” Klein, Jr., & Garry (Shirley) Klein, all of Little Sioux;
Her daughters – Elaine (Frank) Gruber, of Rodney, IA; Judi (Terry) Holdren, of Harlan; Linda (David) Beckman, of Alamogordo, NM; Nancy (Steve) Collier, of Selma, GA; Peggy (Joe) Meyers, of Little Sioux, & Terri McCord, of Harlan;
Her sister – Margie (Jim) Lewis, of Yuma, AZ;
24 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren

Funeral service for 87 year old Gloria Klein of Harlan will be held at 11am on Saturday, January 21 at the Little Sioux United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the Little Sioux Cemetery. Gloria passed away on Wednesday, January 18 at the Elm Crest Retirement Community. Survivors include her children: Elaine (Frank) Gruber of Rodney; Linda (David) Beckman of Alamogordo, NM; Nancy (Steve) Collier of Selma, CA; Glenn "Andy" Klein, Jr., Garry (Shirley) Klein, and Peggy (Joe) Meyers all of Little Sioux; and Judi (Terry) Holdren and Terri McCord all of Harlan; 1 sister, Margie (Jim) Lewis; 24 Grandchildren; and 35 Great-Grandchildren. The Pauley Jones Funeral Home in Harlan is in charge of arrangements where visitation will be held from 4 to 9pm on Friday, January 20th and family will greet friends from 6 to 8pm.

Gloria E. Klein - Age 87

Gloria Eunice Klein was born on November 20, 1924 in Scobey, Montana, to Franklin and Ella (Swanson) Beeks. She was baptized in the Methodist Church. She attended school in Scobey through the eighth grade then went to work at the age of fourteen on a dairy farm.

On December 1, 1942, she was united in marriage to Glenn Klein, Sr. They were the parents of ten children: Elaine, Andy, Judi, Linda, Nancy, Garry, Peggy, Terri, Randy, and Carol. Gloria kept busy raising the children and maintaining the household. The family made their home in Montana, Nebraska, and Idaho, before settling in the Blencoe and Little Sioux, Iowa area.

When the children were older, Gloria was a CNA and worked as a caretaker in the home healthcare field. She had a great passion for caring for people and it took her until the age of seventy-eight to retire.

She enjoyed quilting and playing bingo with her friends and enjoyed the fellowship as a past member of the Red Hat Society.

Gloria lived at Little Flower Haven in Earling, Iowa, for a short time before moving to the Westridge Apartments in Harlan and eventually to Elm Crest Retirement Home in Harlan, Iowa in 2009. This is where she died on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, having attained the age of eighty-seven years, one month, and twenty-nine days. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, son Randy and daughter Carol.

She is survived by her children: Elaine and her husband Frank Gruber of Rodney, Iowa, Andy Klein of Little Sioux, Iowa, Judi and her husband Terry Holdren of Harlan, Iowa, Linda and her husband David Beckman of Alamogordo, New Mexico, Nancy and her husband Steve Collier of Selma, California, Garry Klein and his wife Shirley of Little Sioux, Peggy and her husband Joe Myers of Little Sioux, and Terri McCord of Harlan; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-five great-grandchildren; sister Margie and her husband Jim Lewis of Yuma, Arizona; sister-in-law LaVon Hansen of Fremont, Nebraska; special friend Marlene McCall of Charter Oak, Iowa; other family members and friends.

Pastor Donna Ewert officiated the 11:00 AM funeral service at the Little Sioux United Methodist Church in Little Sioux, Iowa on Saturday, January 21, 2012. Honorary casket bearers were Jimmie Jo Cherini, Joseph Meyers, David Meyers, and Timothy Gray. Serving as casket bearers were Jerry Cherini, Robert Cherini, Joshua Bruneau, Terry Holdren, Frank Gruber, Joe Meyers, and Steven McCord. Interment was held at the Little Sioux Cemetery in Little Sioux, Iowa.
