Funeral services for 91 year old Pauline Hogzett of Oakland will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 10 at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. Pauline passed away on Tuesday, March 6 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland. Survivors include her son, Mike (Susan Havick) Hogzett of Harlan; 2 Grandsons; 3 Great-Grandsons; 5 nieces; 3 nephews; and many friends. The Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements where open visitation will be held on Friday, March 9 until Noon. Open visitation will then continue at the Oakland United Methodist Church after 1pm with family visitation from 5 to 7pm.

PAULINE UNECE HOGZETT, 91, of Oakland, died Tue., March 6th, at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home. Funeral services for PAULINE HOGZETT will be held Sat., March 10th, at 11:00 AM, at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland is in charge of arrangements.

An open visitation will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland on Friday until Noon. Open visitation will continue at the Oakland United Methodist Church after 1:00 PM. Visitation with the family will be held at the Oakland United Methodist Church on Friday from 5-7 PM.

Pauline Hogzett is survived by:
Her son Mike Hogzett and wife Susan (Havick) of Harlan;
2 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Pauline Unece Hogzett
(August 20, 1920 - March 6, 2012)

Pauline Unece Hogzett, the daughter of Leech and Ada (Shook) Miller, was born August 1, 1920 near Emerson, IA and died March 6, 2012 at the Oakland Manor Nursing Home in Oakland, at the age of 91 years, 6 months, and 15 days.

Pauline graduated from Emerson High School with the class of 1937 and then attended college at Simpson for two years. On May 29, 1943 Pauline was united in marriage to Donald Hogzett in Cheyenne, WY. While Don served in the Army, Pauline taught country school for a short time and also worked in Des Moines. After Don graduated from Drake University, they moved to Oakland where Don opened a law practice. In November of 2010, Pauline moved to Oakland Heights Assisted Living. She continued to live at Oakland Heights until recently when she moved to Oakland Manor.

Pauline was a member of the Oakland United Methodist Church, P.E.O., several bridge clubs, and had served on the Oakland Library Board and the Oakland Manor Nursing Home Board. She enjoyed taking family vacations in Minnesota. Pauline liked to play golf and was known as a tremendous cook. She was renowned for her desserts, salads, cinnamon rolls, and particularly her chocolate chip cookies. She and Don were enthusiastic followers of their sons and grandsons athletic pursuits. Family was everything to them, as it was to most of their generation; those who lived through WWII and the great depression.

She is preceded in death by her husband Donald Dean Hogzett on March 17, 2000; her son Steve; her parents; her brothers, Dale and Wayne Miller; her sisters-in-law Marguerite Miller and Kitty Hogzett; and her brother-in-law Jack Hogzett.

Pauline is survived by her son Mike Hogzett and wife Susan* of Harlan, IA; her grandchildren, Chris Hogzett and wife Laura of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Matt Hogzett and special friend Ashley Fischer of Omaha, NE; her great grandsons: Kolten, Mason, and Brylan Hogzett; five nieces: three nephews; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Oakland United Methodist Church in Oakland. An open visitation will be held at the Rieken Vieth Funeral Home in Oakland on Friday until Noon. Open visitation will continue at the Oakland United Methodist Church after 1:00 PM.
