Wright Cemetery --- Fairfield, Iowa
Funeral services for Leona F. Williams, 86, of Davenport, will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012, at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at the Wright Cemetery in rural Fairfield, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 10:30 a.m. until the service time at the mortuary. Mrs. Williams died on Friday, December 30, 2011, at St. Mary's Healthcare and Rehab Center in Davenport.
Leona Fern Crowe was born on May 19, 1925, in Albia, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Gladys (Olson) Crowe. She married Clifford W. McIntosh on August 29, 1942, in Missouri. He preceded her in death in February of 1973. She later married Merwin D. Williams on February 9, 1974, in Chariton, Iowa. He preceded her in death in February of 2008. Leona worked for many years as a wrapper in the meat department at the former National Tea Market in Davenport. She attended the Assembly of God Church, was an excellent cook, loved to quilt, and most especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She is survived by two daughters, Donna Garvey of Davenport and Connie Abegglen of Merrill, Wis.; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Preceding her in death are her parents, her two husbands, Clifford and Merwin, a brother, Billy, and a stepson, Charles.
Memorials may be made to the family.
