I was able to locate the date of death of John Fey for you.

John Fey died on November 25, 1872 in Scott County, Iowa

The source is: Scott County, Iowa Probate Packets, 1st Series, Volume 28, Packet #912;
Probate was filed on December 17, 1872. Petition to appoint his widow as the administrator as there was no will. He left his widow and three children.
