I have been looking for my second great grandfather Alfred P LaRue. We have him in Chicago around 1870 married to Philomene LaBosierre. We know about her heritage and birth in Canada, but we don't know where he came from. I did an exhaustive search in the French genealogy database for Canada, but I couldn't find anyone with his name there. I suspected that he must have been born in the US. I looked for him in Civil War records because he was the right age to have served. I came across an Alfred LaRue from Scott County. I wonder if any of the LaRue families who have lived in Scott County for several generation have information about Alfred LaRue. I cannot find anything about him prior to 1870. I would like to find out whether or not the Alfred LaRue who served in the Eighth Iowa Infantry B Company was my great great grandfather or not.
