Hi Betty,

I can relate to your quest.

With regret death records for that time period do not exist. In the State of Iowa, deaths began to be recorded in July 1880.

If she was said to be only in Davenport for a few weeks before she died, you could try checking with Davenport Public Library, Special Collections http://www.davenport.lib.wa.us/
for they have newspapers on microfilm.

Another idea is to look for an obit from the community the family had recently left.
