McCard/McCord/McCarg(e)

MCCARG, MCCARGE

Abram McCarg is found in the 1860 census in Liberty, Scott, Iowa (P.O. Dixon). He is with his wife Eunice (my ggg grandmother) and lives next door to his daughter and husband, Richard and Isabella (my gg grandmother) Richards. The families are in Dayton, Iowa, Iowa in the 1870 census, however, Abram is not listed with them and Eunice has resumed using her first married name “Hadsall”. What happened to Abram? Did he die in Dixon? Did they divorce? Or did she just leave him? What???

When these families were all in Pennsylvania, Eunice is listed with a John McCard – same birth year (1790) and birth place (New York) as Abram McCarg – coincidental? Whoever Eunice’s husband (not Hadsall) was -- McCard/McCord/McCarg(e) -- is my ggg grandfather. The 1925 Iowa census in Iowa County lists Abraham McCarge and Eunice Parks as Isabella’s parents.

Do you have any resources that can be checked for Abram McCarg in Scott County?

Thank you for any help you can give me. Hope this is not too confusing.
