The 1880 United States Federal Census finds Hans Ewoldt living in Cleona, Scott, Iowa, born in Holstein, Germany in 1837.

Hans was married to Henrietta Ewoldt, and in the household were William (12), Lena (9), John (6), Rosa (2), and Charles (1).

The 1900 United States Federal Census finds Hans still in Cleona, adds a birth month of June, marriage to Henriette in 1868. At that time in their home were John (25), Amanda Sinn (19), Hermann (17), Albert (15), Hans (14), August (10), Edward (7), and Alvina (12).

I found Hans Ewoldt with the following details online:

Date of birth: Jun. 14, 1837, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.

Death: Mar. 21, 1924, Big Rock, Scott County, Iowa.

Spouse: Henriette Schaeffer Ewoldt (1848 - 1919).

Burial: New Liberty Cemetery, New Liberty, Scott, Iowa.

The 1920 United States Federal Census finds John Ewoldt living in Cleona, Scott, Iowa, 45 years old, married to Annie Ewoldt. Also in the home was Raymond Ewoldt (13).

Draft registration for WWI has John Ewoldt in Scott County, IA, birth date of 28 Oct. 1874.

The 1900 United States Federal Census finds William Ewoldt, living in Liberty, Scott, Iowa, 31 years of age, born in Nov. 1868. He was married to Bertha Ewoldt in 1896. Others in the home were Hugo (3) and Louis (1).

The 1940 United States Federal Census finds Charles Ewoldt, age 60, born abt 1880, residing in New Liberty, Scott, Iowa. He war married to Margaret Ewoldt. Also in the home were Henrietta (12) and Russell (9).

Here are some notices that were published in the local newspapers. I cannot confirm the connection to your Ewoldt family. However, the names are the same, so I will share, just in case.

11 Children Will Inherit Ewoldt Estate.

Eleven surviving children of the late Hans Ewoldt, who died at his home in Liberty township on March 21 will divide his estate, according to the will filed in district court for probate.

The children are: William Ewoldt, Lena Jansen, John Ewoldt, Charles Ewoldt, Amanda Sinn, Herman Ewoldt, Albert Ewoldt, Hans Ewoldt, Alvena Thede, August and Edward Ewoldt.

The will names William and August Ewoldt as the executors. Judge A.J. House has set the hearing for admitting the will to probate for April 10. A.W. Hamann is the probating attorney.
