In Response To: Dudley A. Williams (Elise)

I found the following information about your family.

Name: Dudley Allyn Williams
Birth Date: 17 Nov 1829
Death Date: 22 Aug 1884
Cemetery: Mount Joy Cemetery
Burial Place: Park View, Scott County, Iowa

And:

Williams

A sudden death was that of Mrs. Mary Williams, Sunday night. Mrs.Williams lived at 514 West Eleventh street.

Sunday she was about the house, apparently standing the hot weather as well as the rest of the family, and seemed to be well when she went to bed in the evening. About 5 o'clock this morning it was found that she was dead.

Everything indicated a peaceful and quiet passing away. Mrs.Williams has been a resident of the city for some time, and to her family and friends her death was a very sad surprise. She was 77 years of age.

The funeral will take place Wednesday at 8 o'clock, with the burial at Mt.Joy.

TWO DEATHS IN DAVENPORT DUE TO HEAT.

John J. Buchanan Expires before medical aid can reach him--Mrs. Mary Williams found dead in her bed--many people are prostrated by the severe heat--physicians kept busy.

KILLED BY THE HEAT.

John J. Buchanan, 832 1-2 West Second street.

Mrs. Mary Williams, 514 West 11th street.

Mrs. Williams Found Dead.

The other death that can be attributed directly to the heat in Davenport since the hot spell began is that of Mrs. Mary Williams, who was found dead in bed yesterday morning at the home of Charles Faulkner, Jr., 514 West 11th street. All day Sunday Williams complained about the weather. She was 75 years of age and a widow, but is survived by two sons, one in California, and the other in Oregon.

Dr. Fred Lambach was called in his official capacity as coroner, but decided that an inquest was not necessary, and signed the death certificate, giving the cause of death as heat prostration.

The funeral will be held Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock and will be private. Interment will be in the Mt. Joy cemetery.
