Services for Mrs. Durwood (Susan) Dircks, 56, were held at Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ, Davenport, Oct. 14 with burial in Davenport Memorial park. Mrs. Dircks died at St. Luke's hospital, Davenport, Oct. 11.

The former Susan Goltman, she was married to Durwood Dircks in Clinton in 1950.

She graduated from the University of Iowa, and was a life member of its Alumni association.

She presently served as state regent of Iowa Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a member of Hannah Caldwell Chapter. She was a member of the executive board of St. Luke's Hospital Auxiliary and treasurer of St. Luke's gift shop. She was active in the Junior League of the Quad Cities, and served as treasurer of the "Year of the River Committee," and was a member of the finance committee.

Mrs. Dirks served for many years as hostess chairman of the Miss Iowa pageant. She was past president of Davenport Parent-Teachers' Association and held many offices in Davenport Visiting Nurses Association.

She was a member of PEO Chapter GW, of which she was treasurer. She was a member of Edwards Congregational United Church of Christ, and served as treasurer of the Women's Fellowship.

Mrs. Dircks was midwest regional alumni representative of Alpha XI Delta Sorority. She previously had been active in Broadway Theatre, and University Women's association.

She was a member of Davenport Country Club, and was an avid golfer.

Mrs. Dircks also was a member of Scott County Republican Women's Group, Davenport club, Daughters of the Nile, Scott County Bar Association Auxiliary and Quad-Cities Reserve Officers Association Ladies group.

Survivors include her husband; 3 sons, Russell and David, both of Davenport and William, Gainesville, Fla.; 2 sisters, Katherine Coffer, Indianapolis and Elizabeth Goltman, Philadelphia; and 2 brothers William Goltman, Mission Viejo, Calif. and John Goltman, Portsmouth, R.I.
