Doris Gletty, 94, of Davenport, died Sunday, July 17, 2022 at ProMedica Skilled Nursing Facility in Davenport.
Funeral services celebrating her life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Davenport. Burial will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. Thursday at church. Memorials may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, Scott County Humane Society, or CASI. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.
Doris was born September 20, 1927 in Bellevue, Iowa, the daughter of Adolph and Norlane (Doubleday) Montag. She married Russell Gletty, August 3, 1947 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. He preceded her in death, February 28, 1998.
Doris worked as an insurance rate tech for Fireman’s Fund, retiring in 1989. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years; Davenport Association of Insurance, Women’s President, and taught insurance courses for women for six years; Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority; and CASI where she volunteered in the administrative department for 10 years. Doris was a Cub Scout den mother, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and a camping mother for Girl Scouts for three summers.
Doris was nominated for National Volunteer of the Year award in 2000; served as secretary of the Board of Directors for Luther Manor; and a coordinator for the Money Management of Scott County, sponsored by CASI.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, Dianne (Wayne) Spahr of Davenport, Deborah Lamp of Davenport, Barbara (Kevin) Sturtz of Osceola, Iowa, and Rick (Terry) Gletty of Sperry, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Russell; parents; grandson, Daniel; and son-in-law, Glen Lamp.
