Obituary

Roberta “Bobbie” Jean Rokis, 94, of Colona, passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2022, at Colona United Methodist Church, Colona, IL. Pastor Daniel Skelton will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 24, 2022, at Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Roberta Rokis Memorial Fund, to be distributed to local charities.

Roberta was born March 4, 1928, the daughter of Russell and Mildred (Alderson) Firth, in White Hall, IL. Bobbie graduated from Rock Island High School. On August 26, 1949, she married Louis Rokis. She was employed as a bookkeeper for Payless Cashway, Silvis, as well as working for Western Tobacco, and being a homemaker. Bobbie enjoyed singing – even singing on the radio when younger and was an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed square dancing, farkle, cribbage, bowling, and golf. She was an active member of the Colona United Methodist Church, Geneseo Kitchen Band, and a Red Hatter. Bobbie brought a smile to the hearts of many as Mrs. Claus during the Christmas Holidays. Her greatest joy came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bobbie also adored her cat, Susie.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Tony (Deb) Rokis, Shari (Ted) Anderson, Lindy (Bob) Anderson, JoAnne Hillman, Sandy (Ed) Skelton, all of Colona; grandchildren, Chris (Roseann) Anderson, Nick (Amy) Anderson, Michael (Terri) Skelton, Karin (David) Kurisu, Thomas Skelton, Pastor Daniel Skelton, Mandi (Dave) Guyer, Craig (Jill) Anderson, Kimberly (Josh) Olson, Jeffrey Hillman, Jennifer (Bekah) Hillman, Jeremy (Lisa) Hillman, JC Hillman, Jessica (Charlie Cole) Hillman, Amy (Jeff) Swan, Scott Rokis, Anthony (Kathleen) Rokis, Ryan Rokis, Brandon Rokis; and thirty-two great-grandchildren.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Louis Rokis; son, Leslie Rokis; grandson, Zachary Skelton; brother, Robert Firth; and son-in-law, Dale Hillman.
