Elizabeth (Betty) Jean Juehring, 89, of Davenport, IA died on July 17, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. A celebration of her life will take place on Friday, July 22, 2022, between 12:00-2:00 P.M. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport IA.

A southern girl at heart, Betty was born to Marion and Hilda Conn on November 28, 1932, in Port Allen, LA. She attended Baton Rouge Business College, before going on to work at the Louisiana State Court House. Betty growing up was involved in many beauty pageants winning competitions.

Betty met Gerald (Jerry) Juehring in Biloxi, Mississippi while she was on vacation, and he was stationed at the Keesler US Air Force base. They were so much in love that they married twice on July 28th, 1956, in Ulm Germany first by the Burgermeister and next by the Catholic Church. Germany is where they started a life of adventures and travels that would eventually bring them to Davenport decades later.

Betty kept busy with a variety of talents and interests. She was a skilled archer, enjoyed traveling the world with Jerry visiting throughout Europe, the Middle East along with Asia, the Caribbean, North America, and Hawaii. She also enjoyed cheering on her children at West High School athletic events, reading the latest health & wellness publication, volunteering countless times at church, attending exercise classes at CASI, and feeding vanilla wafers to her faithful dog Dusty. And even though this southern girl never liked the winter, she was the first to hop on a sled down the family’s back hill with grand and great grandchildren.

Betty was a friend to many and always willing to sit and listen or share a story and opinion. And if you ever needed a dance partner, she was it; she loved to dance.

Betty’s greatest joy was being a mom to her four children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.

Betty will be deeply missed by her husband Jerry Juehring; children, Yolanda Kirchhof (Gary), Chris Juehring (Michelle), Ben Juehring (Stephanie), Dave Juehring (Michelle); grandchildren, Dana Petersen (Mike), Sara Farrell (Adam), Carl Epping (Ruth), Nora Epping, Jordan Juehring, Jessica Juehring, Jillienne Slack (Taylor), Dane Juehring, Shelby Juehring; great grandchild, Soren Petersen, George Epping and Donald Epping; in-laws and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Joseph Marion Conn and survived by brother, John Burnell Conn.

The family wishes to extend their special thanks to the staff at Jersey Ridge Place along with Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to River Bend Food Bank. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
