Ruth Ann Farley, age 84, of Walcott, Iowa passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Monday, July 4, 2022. A funeral service celebrating the life of Ruth Farley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at Calvary United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials can be made to Calvary United Methodist Church or the Walcott Fire Department.

Ruth was born on November 19, 1937 in Peoria, Illinois to Henry and Freida Sathoff. She married the love of her life, Jim Farley, on June 14, 1959. He proceeded her in death on November 29, 2005.

Ruth Farley had a huge heart and a big smile. She dearly loved Jesus, her family and her friends. She demonstrated this love through her sweet disposition and amazing listening skills. Ruth loved her church family. She met her husband Jim at the First Baptist Church in East Peoria, IL, where they were youth leaders for many years. When they moved to Walcott in 1977, they joined Calvary United Methodist Church. Ruth was active in the choir, women’s bible study and VBS. Ruth and Jim enjoyed holding small group bible studies in their home. Ruth was well known as a dedicated prayer warrior.

Ruth worked for many years at City Hall in Walcott. She also volunteered at Walcott Day for many years. She enjoyed traveling, especially to the beach and to St. Louis to watch the Cardinals play baseball. She showcased that love with her numerous Cardinal t-shirts and coats. In addition, Ruth loved watching her daughters and grandchildren play sports.

Ruth loved the holidays, her favorite being Christmas. She loved listening to Christmas music and singing along in her beautiful alto voice. Ruth and Jim collected Hallmark Mary’s Angels Christmas ornaments. Decorating her angel tree was one of her favorite traditions.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Jean (Russ) Johnson of Blue Grass, Joy (Mike) Ostofi of Durant and Juliet (Doug) Gilleland of Merrill, WI; grandchildren, Denise (Weston) Grove of Walcott, Beth (Chris) Gimm of Davenport, James Whitlock of Davenport, Orry Whitlock of Davenport and Trevor Ostofi of Durant; honorary grandchild, Hannah (Brian) Fox of Davenport; step-grandchildren, Zach (Katie) Johnson of Wilton and Kayla (Joe) Evanovich IV of LeClaire; great grandchildren, Anna, Christopher and Maggie Gimm, Wesley Grove, Owen and Carter Johnson, Joey Evanovich V and Finn and Aiden Fox; sisters-in-law, Ruby Tucker and Patsy Remmert; and many nieces and nephews. Also her special animals, Dutchie, Ellie and Pinky.
