Albert “Al” E. Ede, 84, of Bettendorf, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center in Davenport.
A short visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00pm, Thursday, June 2, at Runge Mortuary and Crematory, 838 E. Kimberly Rd., Davenport. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Al was born August 27, 1937, son to Cornelia (Meyer) and Verdine Ede. Growing up in Davenport, he was the youngest of his siblings Leonard (Meyer), Verdine, Marline and Frank. After graduating from Davenport High School in 1955, he served in the US Army. During a 31-year career with the Rock Island Arsenal, he met his wife of nearly 45 years, Ruth Ann Ede (Eberts). He enjoyed a good cigar, a cold beer, gardening, and traveling with his family. He was a wonderful father to daughters Penny (Hanson) and Candi (Logan), and grandfather to his grandchildren.

After retiring from the RI Arsenal, Al and his wife enjoyed traveling, visiting family and friends, and many casinos throughout the US. He spent many years as caregiver to his wife before her passing in January.

He was a quiet man, with a gentle soul… and he will be missed dearly.
