Dennis Gene Sims, 68, of Ormond Beach FL passed away Sunday May 22nd, at Coastal Health and Rehabilitation Center in Daytona Beach FL.
Dennis was born Nov 4, 1953 - the son of Ervan "Bud" Sims and Ruth Aldridge who preceded him in death. Dennis resided in the Quad Cities for the much of his life until his move to Florida approximately five years ago. He worked at Eagle Warehouse for many years. He was also a janitor for the local school system.
Dennis was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, brother, son and friend who was loved by so many. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends - never hesitating to give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He enjoyed fishing, playing card/board games, taking trips and enjoyed watching classic western shows on TV.
Many thanks to the caregivers, family and friends who helped Dennis over the years. He loved so many and so many loved him.
Dennis is survived by his two daughters Angela Marie Sims, Ormond Beach FL, and Amanda Rose Sims-Levetzow, Silvis IL. His siblings include: Jim Aldridge, South Carolina; Mindy VanRaalte, Illinois; Polly Townsend, Illinois; Tom Sims, Illinois and Cliff Sims as well as two stepbrothers Ben Watson, California and Steven Watson, Oregon. Grandchildren include: Desiree Kiser, Minnesota; Dakota and Alexces Fisher, Michigan; Zach and Trevor Sims, Illinois; Braelighn Brown, Illinois and Maxxwell Levetzow, Illinois. Along with two great grandchildren and nieces and nephews- all of which he loved with his whole heart.
Dennis fought hard and is now in the presence of God and is resting peacefully with his parents in heaven. A Celebration of Life Gathering for family and friends will be scheduled in the near future, date and time to be determined.
