Robert Richard Rekemeyer, age 78, of Walcott, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant. A visitation will be held from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in Inland Cemetery, Bennett, Iowa. Memorials may be given to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church or the Durant Ambulance.

Bob was born on September 18, 1943, the son of Roger and Luella (Broders) Rekemeyer. He graduated from Durant High School with the Class of 1961. Bob married Leila Treimer on July 27, 1963.

Bob realized his dream of farming and was able to enjoy farming for almost fifty years. He also worked at Nestle, formerly Ralston Purina for thirty-nine years. Bob was a longtime member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Durant. He enjoyed playing cards, dancing, attending horse shows, teasing little kids, and the sound of a two-cylinder John Deere tractor.

Robert will be dearly missed by his wife, Leila; son, Kenneth Rekemeyer; daughter, Kristine (William) Lyon; a sister, Donna (Marty) Sprengelmeyer; brother-in-law, Kenneth Treimer; sister-in-law, Elaine Pahl; along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; parent in-laws, Esther and Everett Treimer; sister and brother-in-law, Lana and Larry Morris; sisters-in-law, Eleanor Niemann and Bev Treimer; and brothers-in-law, Jerry Niemann and Gene Pahl.
