Miles E. “Sonny” Smith, Jr., 85, of Davenport, IA passed away Friday, December 3, 2021.
Visitation will be held between 3:00-5:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 10, 2021 with a Visitation between 9-10:30 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA. Miles was born August 16, 1936 in Davenport, IA to Miles Sr. and Marie (Behrens) Smith. After graduation from Davenport High School in 1955, he was a machinist apprentice at Mast Development and HC Duke, E. Moline.

He joined the Army in September 1958, was discharged September 1960, and called back September 1961 for another year.

He married Delores Lingard on September 12, 1959. They have 2 children, Miles “Butch” (Terri) Smith III of Blue Grass, and Sandy (Michael) Mizeur of Moline.

He worked at Roemer Machine. Retired as a tool and die maker in 1995 after 30 years at Kartridg Pak. His parents and two sisters, Joyce McCollam and Nancy Dorton, preceded him in death.

He loved cars, fishing, his family, and his yard.

He is survived by his wife, children, many nieces and nephews, sister-in-law, and brother-in law.
