Rev. Clarence Wilmer Pannier (1922-2021

Rev. Clarence Wilmer Pannier passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, December 4, 2021, at the Davenport Lutheran Home, Davenport, IA.
Visitation will be held 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 9, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. He will be laid to rest in Pine Hill Cemetery. Memorials may be made to LCMS World Relief & World Missions. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Rev. Pannier was born September 22, 1922 in Granton, WI. On October 8, 1922 he became a child of God in holy baptism. He was married to Marian Winter on May 7, 1949. Six children were born to this union. After farming for 9 years, he enrolled in Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield, IL, and was ordained into the ministry of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod on July 15, 1962. He served as pastor of a dual parish, St. Paul Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Church, Charter Oak and Ida Grove, IA; Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Urbandale, IA; St. Paul Lutheran Church, Sac City, IA; AND Immanuel Lutheran Church, Davenport, IA.

Rev. Pannier retired from the parish ministry in 1987. He then served as chaplain at Davenport Lutheran Home for 22 years, retiring in 2009. He also served several congregations during pastoral vacancies as well as conducting worship services for vacating pastors.

Rev. Pannier is survived by his wife, Marian, and five children: Gary, Pleasant Hill, IA; Dianne, (Mrs. Morgan Marti) LeClaire, IA; Randy (Paula) Kimberly, WI; Steven (Cynthia) Plymouth, MN; Philip (Jill) Appleton, WI; also 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and two brothers, and daughter, Cheryl Pannier.
