Worth Melton (1939-2021)

Worth (Butch) L. Melton, 82, of Moline, passed away Monday, November 15, 2021, at UnityPoint Health Trinity Rock Island.

Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 pm Monday, November 22, 2021, at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory, Moline. A Memorial Service will follow directly after at 6pm. Memorials may be made to his family for a fund to be established.

Worth was born on June 26, 1939, in Moline, the son of Edmond and Elva Melton. He married Jan Andresen and with that union brought two daughters, Terrie Lynn and Danielle Diane. He later married Donna Irwin-Mason and together they had a daughter, Tracie Lynn, and a son, Kurtis Franklin. He was a loving man who helped raise Donna’s children Wanda Suzanne Corwin, Melissa Jo Mason, Lisa Lynn Mason, and Kim Lei Planthaber. Worth began his employment as the foreman at Frank’s Foundry in Moline. He later worked as a machinist at John Deere Harvester. Worth then worked as a car salesman for a number of years at various car dealerships in the Quad Cities. Worth liked to dress as neat as a pin. He was a wonderful storyteller and he loved to dance, sing, and play euchre.

Survivors include his children, Terrie Lynn Melton, Tracie Lynn Melton, and Kurtis Franklin (Beth) Melton; several grandchildren he was very proud of, Jacob, Mattison, Luke, John, Paige, Bryan, Marybeth, Becci, Brandon, Joshua, Kendra, Chad, Justin, Travis.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Diane Melton; parents, two brothers, Edmond “Frank,” Jr. and Jack; two sisters, Wanda Anderson and Patricia Swank; stepdaughters, Wanda Corwin and Lisa Mason.

Worth was baptized on April 15, 1954, at Gordon Memorial Congregational Church in Moline. “He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.”
