Early morning on October 2nd, 2021, our family lost their matriarch, Katherine M. Frazier. She passed peacefully after a lengthy and courageous battle with a chronic illness. Her ice blue eyes, big blond hair and effervescent personality are gone but her legacy of passion for faith, family and football lives in all our hearts.

She is survived by her brother, Timothy Frazier, daughter, Denise Bates and son-in-law, Bill Bates, son, Marc (Dutch) Conrad and daughter-in-law, Amy Conrad, eight grandchildren, Graham Bates and wife Kelsi, Brianna (Bates) Edmiston and husband Cameron, Hunter Bates and wife Chelsea, Tanner Bates, Dillon Bates, Sara Conrad, Shelby Evans and husband Tanner, and Madeline Conrad; and nine (soon to be 10) great-grandchildren.

Katherine was born in Nashville, Tennessee, where she graduated from Hillsboro High School, raised her family and began a career in real estate. She moved to Plano, Texas, and managed a 300-acre hospitality ranch for a dozen years where she was affectionately known as The Ranch Queen. In 2003, she relocated to Jacksonville, Florida, to be closer to family and care for her aging mother. While there, she founded a successful interior design and home staging business. Her projects included charity work with Habitat for Humanity in addition to her designs for major realtors.

Wherever she lived, she enjoyed fishing and her fumbling exploits with tangled lines and odd snagged objects are the stuff of family humor. She was an avid gardener and reader who enjoyed watching the many birds that visited her colorful landscaping. Katherine loved being outdoors and enjoyed activities like hiking and walking on the beach. She was the center of family gatherings and a passionate fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers and the Dallas Cowboys. Katherine celebrated game days throughout football season, and her famous barbecue fed scores of hungry family members and assorted fans. Her humorous quips and unique criticisms of opponents will be sorely missed. Her grandchildren and great-children, who lovingly called her “Momo”, were her pride and joy, and she never missed a sporting event, performance, or gathering where she had the chance to cheer them on.

The family’s painful loss is tempered by knowing Katherine is at peace and her loving grace continues to bless us all. Her gentle embrace eases our pain and her unfailing tender love will continue to unite us.

Family and friends are gathering to celebrate her joyous life at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home on Saturday, October 9, 2:00 pm, CDT.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in Katherine’s honor
