Eva C. Carr (1942-2021)

Eva C. "Chris" Carr, of Promise City, Iowa and formerly of LeClaire, Iowa, passed on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 7 days. She passed in the embrace of all of her loving children.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Jack’s Cemetery in LeClaire. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. A luncheon will be held at the LeClaire Fire Station following the graveside service.

Chris was born November 9, 1942 in Onida, South Dakota, the daughter of Ralph & Hazel (Pierce) Phares. She was united in marriage to Edwin D. Carr on March 28, 1959 in Agar, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on July 22, 2007.

Camping and fishing with her husband brought Chris great joy. She loved her 3 p.m. couch time with Alex Trebek. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, crafting, playing Scrabble and doing puzzles. Chris also enjoyed the company of her cats, Missy and Beanie, the hummingbirds and especially the time spent with her kids and grandkids.

Those left to honor her memory include her son, Lenard Carr of Walcott; her daughters, Laurie (Donnie) Ellison of Centerville, Lila Aubuchon of Promise City, Lucinda Carr of Seymour, Iowa and Louise "Dutsi" (Jay) Allbee and Libby Ahlf, both of LeClaire; 16 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; her brother, Myron Phares of Princeton, Iowa; and her sister, Helen Bright of South Dakota.

In addition to her husband, Ed, Chris was preceded in death by by her son, Lawrence "Beano" Carr; her granddaughter, Jennifer Brown; her grandson, Jeramie Millhouse; her son-in-law, Tony Ahlf; and her siblings, Russell, Delores, Tarry, Guy and Conrad. Her brother, Calvin, passed two days after Eva had passed.
