Mrs. Mary Barnes, the venerable mother of Roy F. Barnes, the well-known harnessmaker at the arsenal shops, was found dead in her bed Thursday at her home, 2440 Fifth avenue, Rock Island, by Mrs. Roy Barnes. Her death was caused by the infirmities of age. Mrs. Barnes was born June 30, 1830, at Nantucket, Mass. She lived for ten years at Nova Scotia, where she married a man named Moody, and three children were the fruit of the union, all of whom are dead. Prior to the civil war, Mrs. Barnes moved to Richmond, Ind., where two brothers lived, and there she married, William Barnes, son of the celebrated Quaker preacher. The family moved to Gilbert some years later, and Mr. Barnes died on the farm he owned in 1887. In 1888 Mrs. Barnes removed to Moline. Besides her son Roy, she leaves one brother, Wallace Fanning, at Richmond, Ind. The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon.
