William Untiedt, 79, a Durant resident for 13 years, died at 11:30 a.m. Aug. 17 in Mercy hospital, Davenport, following an extended illness.

Born Aug. 15, 1884 in Cleona township, Scott county, he was the son of Hans and Magadena Untiedt. He was married to Ella Lamp Dec. 1, 1909 in Davenport. The couple farmed 3 miles southeast of Durant until retirement in 1950, when they moved to Durant.

Surviving are the wife; a son, Elmer, at home; 2 daughters, Mrs. Jack (Elverne) Treadwell, Bennett, and Mrs. Robert (Lillian) Fick of Blue Grass; 9 grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Emma Block, Saskatchawan, Canada.

A sister preceded him in death.

Services were held Aug. 20 with burial in the Durant cemetery.
