Mrs. Alvina Bockwoldt, 81, former resident of Durant, died Sept. 5 in the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Kurt Thiel, in Davenport, following an extended illness.

She was born, Alvina Hurst, in Scott county March 3, 1878. She married Charles Bockwoldt March 3, 1896 at Davenport.

The couple farmed three miles south of Durant until their retirement in 1927.

She has made her home with her daughter, in Davenport, since her husband's death.

Funeral services were held in the Durant chapel Saturday. Burial was in the Durant cemetery.

The Rev. Alvin Volle of the Evangelical and Reformed church at Bennett officiated.

Mrs. Bockwoldt is survived by two sons, Edward and Charles, both of Durant; one daughter, Mrs. Kurt Theil, Davenport; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
