William A. Sievers, 73, of New Liberty, died April 9 at Davenport, after an extended illness.

He was born in Scott county, April 27, 1883, the son of John and Anna Sievers. He attended Scott county rural schools.

Mr. Sievers was married to Frieda Hochmuth in Davenport, March 1, 1906. She preceded him in death Oct. 28, 1916. June 5, 1919, he was married to Dora Theiring Lensch. She died March 17, 1956.

Mr. Sievers farmed in Liberty township for many years, retiring in 1932. He was a member of Modern Woodmen of America.

Survivors include a son by his first marriage, Lester, Stockton; two grandchildren, Donavon Sievers, Stockton, and Mrs. William Meyer, Davenport; one sister, Mrs. Walter Lange, Davenport; two brothers, Charles and Hugo, both of Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters, who died in infancy.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Runge chapel. Burial was in the Dixon cemetery, with the Rev. Fred Rolf officiating. Pallbearers were six nephews: Ralph, Earle and Glenn Sievers, Allan Plambeck, Paul Spencer and Elmer Paper.
