WELL KNOWN CITIZEN DIES AT AGE OF 87
Max C. Thiedemann Succumbs to the Infirmities of Old Age.
Max C. Thiedemann, well known Davenporter, passed away Tuesday afternoon at the advanced age of 87 years. Death was the natural result of the infirmities incident to one of his years.
Mr. Thiedemann was born in Wittenwurth, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, Nov. 7, 1837. He came to America in 1890 and lived in Davenport until seven years ago when he moved to Chicago. He returned to this city a year and a half ago.
The deceased was united in marriage to Augusta Witt, a sister of the late H.J. Witt, on Sept. 16, 1861. Five children were born of this union, of whom four survive. They are Minna Von Techammer and Laura Piering, residing in Germany; Richard, living in England, and Alma Kemptner of New York. The bereaved widow also survives.
Mr. THiedemann was a gentleman of high honor and integrity, kind and generous and greatly beloved by all who knew him.
The body was taken to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home, where it will remain until tomorrow morning, when it will be returned to the family home at 604 Gaines street. From here private funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon. Incineration will take place at the Davenport Crematorium. Friends are kindly asked to omit flowers.
