SISTER OF LATE H.J. WITT DIES
Mrs. Augusta Thiedemann, wife of the late Max Thiedemann, and sister of the late H.J. Witt, founder of the Witt Bottling works of Davenport, died today at 6:30 a.m. at the home of J.C. Witt, 604 Gaines street, her nephew. Her death terminated a lingering illness.
Mrs. Thiedemann, nee Witt, was born at Henne, Holstein, Germany, on September 16, 1842, and was there married to Max Thiedemann on September 16, 1861. The couple came to America in 1890, residing in Davenport until 1879 when they moved to Chicago. They again returned to Davenport in 1923, and on July 1, 1924 her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Tschammer, Mrs. Laura Piering, both in Germany; one son, Richard in England; three sisters in Germany, namely Mrs. Mathilda Schwertfeger, Mrs. Amanda Nicholsen, and Mrs. Bertha Heinrichs, and a number of grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home where it will remain until Friday morning, when it will be taken to the late home, 604 Gaines street, from where funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday. Friends are welcome to the home, but the incineration at the Davenport crematorium will be private. The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted.
