Billie was a homemaker after working at Independent Bakery, Crescent Macaron and the Old Mill, where she met her husband, "Johnny" Jecklin. She baby-sat in her home for 44 years and worked at "Sharon's Styling Studio" and "Quad City Dental Lab" helping her children. Billie Shirlaw was born Mar. 24, 1927, in Davenport, to William and Esther (Wilson) Shirlaw. She married John E. Jecklin on Dec. 15, 1950, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on Nov. 4, 1985. Billie was a beloved mother grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was her family and her legacy, the children, she raised, both her own and the 50 something she baby-sat for through the years. She instilled in them the love, loyalty, sensitivity and values that she lived by her whole life, making her loved by everyone whose life she touched. She will be missed more than she would have ever believed. She was goodness and love in its purest form, giving everything and demanding nothing. In her life, she made a difference. In her death, heaven became a better place. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Home.
