Richard O. Hoyer, 65, a resident of Davenport the greater part of his life, died at 1:15 p.m. Friday at his home, 228 East Eleventh street, Davenport, following a lingering illness.

Mr. Hoyer was born Oct. 22, 1881, in Davenport and married Malinda Peters Nov. 4, 1913, in Mason City. When a young man he entered the banking business and was teller at the German Savings bank of Davenport until moving to Clarence, to become cashier of the First National bank. In 1924 he returned to Davenport and accepted a position with the Union bank, and in 1930 he became associated with the Investors' Syndicate, retiring because of ill health in 1938.

The survivors include his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Richard Kalal, Davenport, and two sisters, Mrs. Charles Volk, Rock Island and Mrs. Arthur Kahlke, Seattle, Wash. One brother preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in Hill & Fredericks chapel, with burial in Fairmount cemetery.

Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hasselbusch, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. D. Miller, Mr. and Mrs. John Greig and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Decker attended the funeral. Mr. Hasselbusch and Mr. Decker were pallbearers.
