Elizabeth Posten was born in Licken county, Ohio, May 31, 1821. She came to Cedar county, Iowa, in 1836. In 1842 she was married to Francis J. Parker after which she moved to Scott county, Iowa. To this union were born ten children, three of whom died in infancy.

The surviving ones are as follows: Mrs. Rhoda Cole, Monte Vista, Colo., Zachariah F., Oklahoma City, Okla.; Eugene F., Davenport; Mrs. Laura C. Boys, Los Angeles, Calif.; Fremont, DeWitt; Andrew J., New Liberty and Clara B. Wharton of Bennett. There are also surviving twenty-five grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Parker died December 5th at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Clara Wharton, at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 5 days.

The funeral services were held at her late home December 7 and interment was made in the Parker cemetery. The pall bearers were her grandsons, namely: J. E. Wharton, A. F. Wharton, F. Parker, A. M. Parker, H. J. Parker and A. J. Parker.
