The Davenport (IA) Democrat and Leader; Wednesday, October 7, 1896; p. 5, col. 2:

Yesterday morning at 4 o’clock occurred the death of Margarite Maher, the little daughter of Catherine Maher at the home of the mother 426 West Locust street. The little one had been sick but two days with membraneous croup. The funeral occurred yesterday afternoon at 4 o’clock. The sudden death of the little child almost prostrated the mother. Margarite was 3 years and 6 months old at the time of her death.
