The Davenport (IA) Daily Leader; Wednesday, January 17, 1894; p. 8, col. 3:

The death of John Marvin occurred Monday a.m., at his late residence 508 West Sixteenth street.

Deceased was born in Ithaca, Me., Aug. 13, 1818, and come to Scott county June 20, 1843, and has resided in this city thirty-eight years.

He leaves a wife who is a daughter of Elisha and Julia Jones and a sister of Sheriff Harvey Jones, and two sons, Frank A. and Fred J., both of whom live at home.

Deceased was for many years a grain and produce buyer and was previously the guard at the old railroad bridge to Government Island.

Funeral will take place from the late residence at 2 o’clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. Canon Rodgers officiating. Interment at Pine Hill.
