JOCHIM ARP, WELL KNOWN FARMER, DIES.

Scott County Resident for 63 Years Passes Away in Davenport.

Jochim Arp, 83, passed away at 4 o'clock this morning at the Health Home at Eighth and Gaines streets after a short illness. Death was due to infirmities of old age.

The deceased was born in Probstei, German, Oct. 19, 1838. He came to America when 17 years of age coming to Davenport and settling in Winfield township, Scott county, where he engaged in farming. He was untied in marriage to Miss Sophia Vogt, who survives him, in the year of 1864.

Other survivors are the following children: Mrs. William Fellner, Mrs. William Mohr, Johannes Arp, and Mrs. Henry Gertz; 15 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren. The body was removed to the Nissen & Hartwig mortuary and will be taken to the home of his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Henry Gertz, Eldridge, Saturday morning. Funeral services will be held from there Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment will be in Mt. Joy cemetery.

HOLD LAST RITES FOR JOCHIM ARP AT ELDRIDGE, IA.

Funeral services for Jochim Arp were held Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Gertz, Eldridge, Iowa. The Rev. J. Miller of the St. Paul's English Lutheran church officiated at the services at home and at the grave in Mt. Joy cemetery.

Six grandsons of the deceased acted as pallbearers. They were Alfons Mohr, Harvey Gertz, Elmer Mohr, Darwin Gertz, Wilbert Mohr, and Will Fellner.
