Peck.

After a general failing health had been her portion for several months past, Mrs. Eliel Peck, wife of the former city assessor, passed away at the home, 483 East Fourteenth street. She was one of the early residents of Davenport.

Mrs. Peck was born in Troy, N.Y., in 1827, her maiden name being Julia E. Fitzsimmons. In 1851 she was married at Brooklyn, N.Y. to Mr. Peck. She was preceded to Davenport by her husband, who came here in 1854, and established himself in business, she following the next year. Since then she has been a resident of Davenport.

Wholly devoted to her home, Mrs. Peck did not seek to take part in the affairs that interest women of the present day. She lived for her family and made her home a place of delight. She was an artist of talent, as many fine paintings can testify, and her fancy needle work, of which she was very fond, still further shows her artistic temperament and attainments. She was also very fond of choice flowers, and beautified her home with the choicest plants. Her death causes a vacancy in the family circle that can never be filled and the home can never be as it was when her presence graced it.

Beside her husband she is survived by one daughter, Miss Fannie E. Peck. Father and daughter are bowed down by the grief that has come upon them.

The funeral will be held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the residence. Friends of the family are invited.
