Wells.

The death of Mrs. Jennie Wells, mother of Prof. W.D. Wells, principal of the High school, occurred yesterday morning at the home of her son in this city. Mrs. Wells had been ill for some months previous, and was taken from Waterloo with a fractured hip to the St. Luke's hospital in September. She was discharged early in January, and has since been at the Wells' home.

Mrs. Wells was born in Sussex county, New Jersey, Jan. 14, 1825. In 1856 she was married to Sanford Wells in Tioga county, Pa. In April, 1861, she moved to Waterloo, Iowa, with her family where her husband died in March 1888. She was the mother of three children, Mrs. G.D. Farwell, who died in Seattle, Wash., in 1890; Mrs. E.G. Ellsworth, now a resident in Lewiston, Idaho, and Prof. W.D. Wells of this city. Mrs. Wells was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and the Daughters of Rebekah.

The funeral service will be held at the home of Prof. Wells, 1716 Park avenue, this morning. The remains will be taken to Waterloo by the way of the D. R.I. & N.W. this noon.
