MRS. M. THODE NEW LIBERTY ANSWERS CALL

Dies at Home of Grand-daughter, Mrs. Hugo Sievers.

Mrs. Maria Thode, a resident of Scott county for many years, died at 4:15 a.m. Sunday at the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Hugo Sievers, two miles southeast of New Liberty. Death terminated a lingering illness.

Mrs. Thode was born in Schleswig, Holstein, Germany June 16, 1851. She came to America 45 years ago to Round Grove, Ia. She was married to Jurgen Thode 36 years ago. The couple settled on a farm near Dixon and later retired moving to Dixon. Her husband preceded her in death four years ago.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Martha Schneckloth, Dixon, Ia.; one son, Theodore Johnson, Des Moines; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. One daughter preceded her in death.

One brother, Clause Hansen, Dixon, also survives.

Te body was removed to the Runge mortuary and will be taken to the home of her grand-daughter, Mrs. Sievers, Tuesday afternoon. The funeral will be held there at 1 p.m. Wednesday with services at the Dixon church at 2 o'clock. Burial will be made in the Dixon cemetery.
