JAMES GILLEN FOUND DEAD BY NEIGHBOR

Was Recently Making Arrangements to Go to Hospital for Poor Health

James Gillen was found dead in a chair this morning at his home, 409 East Ninth street, by a neighbor who had come to visit and chat with him. He had been in poor health for some time, and owing to his advanced age had recently been making arrangements to go to a hospital.

Mr. Gillen, who was 71 years of age, and lived in Davenport practically his entire life, coming here as a child from Port Jervis, N.Y., where he was born on Sept. 21, 1854. He has been retired from work for a a number of years. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hess and Mrs. Anna Carpenter of Des Moines. A brother, Martin Gillen, died about three years ago.

The body was removed to the Halligan Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.
