David Gainey, 1530 Ripley street, for 25 years and employe of the government on the Rock Island arsenal in the harness department, passed away Friday noon at Mercy hospital after an illness of five days' duration.

He was born in Davenport 57 years ago, and spent his entire life here. He never married. He was a member of St. Anthony's church, Ancient Order of Hibernians, and Modern Woodmen of America. During his long life in Davenport, he made many friends by reason of his pleasing personality.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. H.H. Whitcomb of Davenport, and Mrs. Edward Burns of Lisbon, Ia., and three brothers, John, William and Patrick, all living here.

The body was brought to the Fred N. Ruhl funeral home and taken Saturday evening to the home of his sister, Mrs. H.H. Whitcomb, 908 East Locust street, whence the funeral will be held Monday morning at 8:30 with services at 9 o'clock at St. Anthony's church. Interment will be in St. Marguerite's cemetery.
