POPULAR BUSINESS WOMAN OF CITY DIES SUDDENLY

Miss Frances A. Meltesen

Miss Frances A. Meltesen, 1206 Arlington avenue, president of the Round Table club and a popular business woman of the city, died suddenly at her home at 2:20 o'clock this morning.

Miss Meltesen followed her customary employment yesterday and upon arrival home last evening complained of feeling ill. At 10 o'clock she suffered a stroke of apoplexy and passed away a few hours later.
Miss Meltesen was born in Davenport and educated in the parochial schools. She was baptized by the late Rev. P. Roche, pastor of St. Anthony's church. She was popular in a large circle of friends and acquaintances and many will be grieved to learn of her passing.

For many years Miss Meltesen was an office employee of the Halligan company and for the past three years has been in the offices of the Psychopathic Sanitarium. She has been active in the business and social life of Davenport. Aside from being president of the Round Table club, she was an active member of the Business and Professional Women's club and also of the Catholic Women's league.

She is survived by her mother, Mrs. Alice Meltesen. Her father, Peter A. Meltesen, died 10 years ago.
The funeral will be held at 8:30 o'clock Friday morning from the late home with services at nine o'clock at Sacred Heart cathedral. Interment will take place in St. Marguerite's cemetery.

The Catholic Women's league will meet at the home at 8 o'clock Wednesday evening for a brief service.

Club Mourns the Death of Miss Meltesen

The following resolutions on the death of Frances A Meltesen, late president of the Round Table Club, drafted by a committee consisting of Barbara S Morgan, Rena F Davis and Erma Kier, has been adopted by the organization.

Whereas death, sudden and unheralded has entered our midst and summoned from our number our much beloved president Frances A Meltesen, and

Whereas we realize how much her love and friendship have meant to us and we appreciated the characteristics of cheerfulness kindliness and loyalty which were so abundantly possessed by our departed friend as shown in her devotion to us and her work in the club.

Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Round Table club does hereby express the sorrow and sense of personal loss felt by each and every member at the premature death of our friend, Frances A Meltesen and that this club does hereby extend its heartfelt sympathies to her grief-stricken mother, and pray that the merciful God may give her strength to bear this heavy cross,

Be it Further Resolved that a copy of our expression of sympathy be sent to her mother, and to press and to the state department of the National Federation of Business and Professional Women's clubs and that a copy be spread on the records of the Round Table club of Davenport, Iowa.
